Bimbo Bakeries USA announced it will build a 300,000-sq.-ft., $75 million bakery facility in Rockwall, Texas, according to an article in the Dallas Business Journal.
“This is an amazing accomplishment for Rockwall,” Sheri Franza, president and CEO of the Rockwall Economic Development Corp., said in a press release. “Rockwall is actively recruiting projects of this caliber, and we are especially proud of this deal.”
The bakery will produce bread and buns, initially on two large baking line, the corporation said.
Groupo Bimbo, Bimbo Bakeries USA parent company, bought Fort Worth-based Mrs. Baird's Bakeries in 1998 and the combined operations were renamed Bimbo Bakeries USA. Bimbo operates a large baking plant in south Fort Worth.
