A new restaurant is just months away from opening its doors in Deerfield and it comes to you from the people behind some of the best baked goods around! In May 2011, Highland Baking Company will delve into the restaurant world with D.C. Sarnies at 649 Lake Cook Road, but this eatery is much more than a new business endeavor. It’s an opportunity for the bakery to better service their current and potential clientele.
D.C. Sarnies will specialize in sandwiches and classic American cuisine with a twist, offering sandwiches and burgers on Highland Baking Company breads and buns, plus a full menu loaded with appetizers, soups, salads, entrées and even desserts.
Diners also have a number of drink options from the full bar at D.C. Sarnies. The restaurant will feature a wide variety of craft beers including more than 30 on tap. Wines and a full list of regional, global and classic cocktails will also be available.
Besides being a fantastic place to grab a bite with family or friends, D.C. Sarnies will also serve as a research and development kitchen for Highland Baking Company and its restaurant clients. Guest chefs will have the chance to try out new sandwich builds and other recipes in the space that diners will be able to taste and provide feedback on.
“We are not opening D.C. Sarnies to go into the restaurant business,” says Stu Rosen, General Manager and Vice President of Highland Baking Company. “ We are opening the restaurant to be better at the bakery business.”
