The whole grain snacks arrived in stores in September and have suggested retail prices of $2.89 to $3.49. The line includes 100% Whole Grain Wheat Thins, Chips Ahoy! cookies, Fig Newtons cookies and Fig Newtons bars.
The Wheat Thins product is an “excellent” source of whole grains, which means it has 16 grams of whole grains per serving. This product also carries the health claim, “Diets rich in whole grain foods and low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may help reduce the risk of heart disease.”
The 100% whole grain varieties of Chips Ahoy! and Fig Newtons are a “good” source of whole grains, which means the products have at least 8 grams of whole grains per serving. Many of the new items also meet Kraft’s Sensible Snacking criteria of zero grams of trans fat, and low in saturated fat, sodium, sugar and calories.
