Global bakery solutions provider Puratos has made a 30 million euro ($42 million) investment in a manufacturing facility in Pennsauken, N.J., thanks to growing U.S. sales.
The 171,000 sq. ft. facility will have an annual production capacity of more than 90,000 metric tons. The plant will produce a variety of bakery improvers, bases, mixes, bio-fermented sourdoughs and finishers, including icings, glazes and fruit and cream fillings. It is expected to be operational in the fall of 2012, and will provide more than 190 jobs for the community.
The new plant also will incorporate several green initiatives, such as an internal water usage recovery system, advanced air quality controls, superior waste water treatment and a recycling program. All this contributes to a facility that has been designed for premium energy efficiency.
