Applicants will be judged on management systems, product quality, training programs, merchandising and marketing plans, sales and industry service. The winner will be featured in Modern Baking magazine and will be recognized in front of their peers in Charlotte, N.C. during the American Retail Baking Expo (ARBE) 2009. ARBE will be held Oct. 18-20.

Past winners include Pasticceria Bruno, New York; Atwood's Bakery, Alexandria, La.; Torrance Bakery, Torrance, Calif.; Porto's Bakery, Glendale, Calif. and Cold Spring Bakery, Cold Spring, Minn. Applications for the 2009 Retail Bakery of the Year must be received by June 30.
