Caketails–the new mocktail

Desserts merchandised to resemble cocktails were a big hit at the Show & Sell Center at Dairy-Deli-Bake.

Tequila sunrise caketailWhen  in New Orleans, do as they do…walk around with a drink in hand. Or in this case, offer customers the opportunity to walk around with a caketail in hand. At the Show and Sell Center, tequila sunrises and margarits were on display, except they weren’t the cocktails you might expect.

The tequila sunrise featured a red velvet cake base and topped with mango and lemon filling served in a glass to create the signature tri-color look of the cocktail. The margarita was lemon jello topped with a thin layer of cake. The caketail was finished with whipped topping and the margarita glass was dipped in sanding sugar.

Some ideas beyond the two showcased in the Show & Sell Center include Long Island iced tea cake, white Russian paczki, Borracho boca negra, champagne creme brulee.
