The 11th annual Creative Decorating Competition was decided by one of the closest margins in the event's history. The top two finishers where separated by only one point, but Sunnie Guaredy came out on top. She was selected to participate in the competition by a portfolio of her work.
Second place went to Stephanie Murphree who represented the Greater Southwest Retail Bakers Association and Dina Cimarust from the Chicago Area Retail Bakers Association placed third.
All 10 competitors spent two full days on the show floor completing cakes in five different categories: flowers & sprays, wedding cakes, rolled fondant, custom design cakes and sculpted cakes.
The 12th annual Creative Decorating Competition will take place during All Things Baking in Houston, Sept. 9-11, 2012.
