| Pipe a circle of red icing in the center of the cake. Press three cupcakes together, and place them on the red circle to create the main hat. |

| Use tip No. 6 to pipe red icing over the cupcakes. Be careful that the crumbs do not get mixed in the icing as you smooth it over the cupcakes. |

| With tip No.234, pipe tufts of red icing along the bottom edge of the cake. Release the pressure on the bag as you pull up to create this 'boa' effect. |

| Pipe white vertical lines with tip No. 48. Space them about one to two ins. apart. In between the straight lines, use tip No. 6 to pipe zigzag lines. |

| Lightly airbrush an 8-in. cake with pink. Use tip No. 2 to pipe curlicues and dots around the side of the cake. |
To create the varigated flowers on the top fo the cake, stripe a pastry bag with hot pink gel, and fill it with light pink icing. Align a rose tip No. 104 so the hot pink is on the outside of the petals. |
With tip No. 2, pipe black centers in each o fthe five-petaled flowers, and randomly place black polka dots around the rim of the cake. |
