Nationwide, wholesale bakery seeks Assistant General Manager, ("AGM"), for its Grapevine facility. This position is responsible for assisting the General Manager in conducting business operations. The AGM reports directly to the General Manager of the Grapevine facility and is in charge of the facility when the GM is not present.
Some, but not all, of the responsibilities of the position include:
- Coordinate functions and operations between departments, and establish responsibilities and procedures.
- Reviews reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
- Maintain and establish supplier relationships.
- Oversee daily production ensuring quality controls, safety, food safety programs and sanitary conditions are maintained.
- Manage the scheduling of production to meet customer demands, maximize labor efficiencies, minimize turnover, promote workforce stability.
- Communicate and coordinate with Research and Development Department concerning new product launch and production department training and monitoring new product production.
- Analyze and make recommendations based on reports of sales trends.
- Make recommendations for improvements on all aspects of the GM's duties.
- Adheres to deadlines as assigned by the company and/or General Manager.
- Adopt and execute our Values and Beliefs.
Some, but not all of the requirements include:
- Three or more years experience as a Production Manager or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft based software, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Ability to work through problems without supervisor's input, with practical approach to production, food safety and quality functions.
- Dynamic leadership skills and the proven ability to achieve business results.
- Valid driver's license.
- 4-year degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience managing diverse and large teams.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations with strong interpersonal, reasoning and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures and relate them to others.
- Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict.
- Ability to provide feedback and develop other leaders.
- Must be able to relocate in the future for promotional opportunities.
- Flexibility in scheduling; evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays required. (Facility operates 24/7).
- Consistent positive attitude.
- Demonstrate ability to set goals and objectives and motivate team to achieve them.
- Takes accountability and ownership for his or her own actions.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

Bakery Team Leadership in Training Atlanta & Raleigh-Durham
Whole Foods Market is seeking individuals interested in joining store leadership in the Bakery department in the Raleigh-Durham, NC and Atlanta, GA metro areas. The Bakery Team Leadership in Training program integrates 8 weeks of on the job training (OTJ) with 12 days of EMERGE classes. The program prepares Team Members to be successful leaders at Whole Foods. Candidates must be prepared to think, learn, and contribute all while consistently communicating and modeling the Whole Foods Market vision and goal.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Team Leadership in Training Duties
- Participate in Day One and Orientation training.
- Eight weeks total of On-the-Job training (in 2 to 4 different stores within the region).
- Support stores and Teams where OTJ training occurs.
- Participate in 12 days of EMERGE classes (6 days of HR/Leadership and 6 days of Financials) plus homework.
- Work with numerous trainers, ask questions, and apply feedback.
- Assume a Team Leadership position at the end of the first 8 weeks of training.
Team Leadership Duties
- Set and achieve the highest standards in retail execution.
- Provide our customers with outstanding customer service.
- Assist in the interviewing, training, development and counseling processes of all Team Members in a manner which builds and sustains a high performing team and minimizes turnover.
- Establish and maintain a positive work environment, which encourages an exceptionally high level of Team Member morale.
- Manage inventory and pricing to achieve required margin and labor targets.
- Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising to support the regional and national WFM vision.
- Manage and provide accurate weekly, monthly and annual management reports.
- Report directly to Team Leader.
- Work closely with Team Leader and (if applicable) other Associate Team Leaders to ensure smooth operation of the department.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-2 years of leadership experience
- Flexibility to train and be placed in ANY store in the applicable metro area
- Passion and appreciation for department
- A desire to become a Team Leader within Whole Foods Market
- Available for 8 weeks of training
- Clear and effective communicator
- Strong ability to work with others in a team setting
- Enjoys mentoring others
- Strong organizational skills
