The four “P”s of marketing (product, price, promotion and place) were among the topics discussed during the seminar “Marketing Ideas to Grow your Business” presented by the Pillsbury Bakery Institute last month in Atlantic City, N.J. General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice, Minneapolis, introduced its Pillsbury Bakery Institute (PBI) during the American Bakery Expo as a way to help bakery operators with the business side of running their bakery.
“Operators have told us they are seeking business and technical baking support,” said Tommy Hillman, marketing manager, General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice division. “Through the Pillsbury Bakery Institute, we’re providing the recipe for success in today’s competitive business environment by sharing our talent, expertise and resources with the bakery industry. Baking professionals will strengthen both their bench and their business skills through these classes.”
The PBI seminar in Atlantic City took attendees through a series of marketing tactics and applied questions for their bakeries. Through PBI, bakers will have access to a number of classes on a range of topics, such as marketing, branding, defining a niche, making your bakery a destination, merchandising and packaging.
