  • Turkington USA, Goldsboro , N.C., appointed Jerry Barnes vice president, engineering. Barnes has more than 20 years of technical and operational management experience in domestic and international capital equipment markets. He previously was with Raque Food Systems, where he served as director of engineering. He has served as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute and the B155 National Packaging Standards Committee.

  • Kerwin Brown, president and chief executive officer of BEMA, was named interim manager of the American Society of Baking (ASB), Sonoma, Calif., effective June 30. Brown will succeed Thom Kuk, who will resign after 15 years as ASB president. Brown will lead the ASB while continuing at BEMA, where he has been president since 2005. In announcing Kuk's resignation, the ASB noted the central role he played in advancing the education and leadership focus of the ASB and his help in establishing the Baking Hall of Fame. After joining the ASB in 1991 in a consulting role, Kuk was named president and C.E.O. in 1995.

  • Stephen Schelke was named president of de Boer Foods, Sanford, Fla. Schelke has experience importing global brands, such as Grolsch Beer, Wasa Crispbread and Rademaker Chocolate, into the U.S. He also has launched brands, including, Stirring's Mixers, International Collection Oils and Blackridge Canyon Wines, specifically for the North American market. Schelke succeeds Evert de Boer, founder of de Boer Food, who will now serve as the company's C.E.O.
