Ladurée opens in New York

Ladurée, the Paris pastry shop credited with perfecting the French macaron in the early 20th century, opened its first North American outpost in New York City on Aug. 30.

Ladurée’s first location was founded on the Rue Royale in 1862. The brand has been expanding since 1997, opening additional outposts in Paris and 26 other locations including Luxembourg and Beirut. The New York shop carries 15 flavors of macarons, along with chocolates and ice cream.

Additional locations are planned for New York and elsewhere in the United States, according to reports.
