The American Pie Council will hold its first-ever online pie auction to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida on National Pi Day, March 14.
Hosted through biddingforgood.com, the APC Pie Auction will include an assortment of pies (many of which can be shipped) and pie-related items, including a pie buffet cruise; a pie a month for a year from several well-known commercial bakeries including Grand Traverse Pie Co.; gift cards for pies; autographed pie cookbooks; a 48" pie with 300 slices donated by Legendary Baking; and a trip to the APC/Crisco® National Pie Championships and the APC Great American Pie Festival sponsored by Crisco.
"Fighting hunger by donating to Second Harvest Food Bank and doing so with an online pie auction on National Pi Day are fun yet extremely meaningful and appropriate ways for those of us in the pie industry to express our gratitude before we move on to celebrate two of our biggest events of the year," Linda Hoskins, executive director of the American Pie Council, said in a press release. "In the spirit of Pi, we hope that all the pie lovers out there will be infinitely generous in their bids."
Bidding for the online pie auction begins at 9 a.m. EST on March 14 and closes at 9 p.m. on March 25. More information is available at piecouncil.org
