Fresh Start Bakeries, Brea, Calif., recently purchased Pennant Foods from Chef Solutions.

Northlake, Ill.-based Pennant Foods supplies bakery products to the retail, in-store and foodservice baking industries. The company manufactures specialty bakery products, including puff pastry, muffins and cookies, under the Pennant, La Francaise and Sweet Bites brands.

Fresh Start is a major supplier of hamburger buns and other products to the foodservice QSR sector.

Pennant's alliance with Fresh Start will open new markets for both organizations, Pennant officials say.
