Busken Bakery launches low-cal donuts

Busken Bakery has rolled out the Lite-Hearted Donut for calorie-conscious consumers.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Busken Bakery, Cincinnati, Ohio, has rolled out the Lite-Hearted Donut, a heart-shaped glazed donut targeting calorie-conscious consumers.

Each donut contains 140 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, zero trans fat and zero saturated fat. For comparison, a typical Busken glazed donut contains 300 calories and 16 grams of fat.

“We are excited to finally be able to offer a reduced calorie donut that still offers all the great flavorof our original glazed donut,” Dan Busken, president of Busken Bakery, said in a press release. “Health fanatics can now indulge, guilt free, on one of our glazed donuts.”

The Lite-Hearted Donut™ will be available at all 10 Busken Bakery locations, 135 United Dairy Farmers and Remke-Bigg’s. Online ordering will be implemented depending on national demand.

Daylight Flour Company, Tulsa OK, offers a raised donut mix that when done per their recipe yields a raised donut that equals this "new healthier" Buskin donut in all points. And we have offered them for more than 10 years in our stores. What I would like to see is if anyone has good tasting gluten free donut recipes (yeast raised and cake).
