Caroline's expands gift package line

Caroline's Desserts, Redmond, Wash., which produces Krispettes and shortbread cookies, announced plans to expand its line of holiday gift packages this year and debuted three new Krispette flavors during the 34th Annual Winter Fancy Food Show held last month in San Francisco.

“During the past year we experienced significant demand for our holiday packages and believe they can create even greater market share for us in 2009 and beyond,” said Susana Ortiz, founder of Caroline's Desserts. “With that in-mind, we're focused on expanding our offerings for the largest holiday gifting holidays, including Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Christmas and Hanukkah holiday seasons.”

Founded in 2003 by Susana Ortiz and Joanne Suffis, the company is best-known for its extensive line of handmade Krispettes, crisp rice cereal squares consisting of premium ingredients, including organic brown rice cereal, chocolate, fruits and nuts. Krispettes are available in 20 different flavors, including the three newest: OhJoy!, Boo-Boo Bar and Carmel Apple. OhJoy! features coconut, almonds and milk chocolate, and the Boo-Boo Bar is rich in chocolate, incorporating milk, dark and white chocolate varieties. Carmel Apple features premium caramel, milk chocolate, apple and walnuts to bring a new twist on a fair favorite.

The new seasonal gift boxes and Krispettes are sold through Caroline's website, www.carolinesdesserts.com, and at select specialty retailers across the country.
