Corn Products International plans to change its name to Ingredion to better reflect its role as a global ingredients solutions company, pending shareholder approval at its annual meeting in May.
The name change is part of a strategy that included acquiring National Starch in late 2010.The company now supplies a range of ingredient solutions, including packaged food, beverage and brewing.
The name change is subject to shareholder approval; a proposal to approve the change will be included in the company’s proxy statement for its annual meeting in May, which will be released in early April. The company expects the global transition to take about two years, with all areas using the Ingredion brand by the end of 2013.
“We are very excited to announce our new name and identity,” Ilene Gordon, chairman, president and CEO, said in a press release.
