David’s Bakery purchases Yorktown Bakery, Crumbs expands into D.C.

Gourmet dessert company, David’s Bakery, Fairfield, N.J., acquired Yorktown Bakery LLC, effective Jan. 1, 2010. The purchase adds thaw-and-serve cinnamon rolls and Danish to David’s line of desserts, which includes cookies, brownies, muffin batter, cookie dough, cheesecakes and tarts. The bakery will retain Yorktown’s existing management.

Chef David Liederman opened his first cookie shop in 1979 in Manhattan. After growing to 250 units, the chain was purchased by Fairfield Gourmet Foods and is currently an online mail-order business.
