Eli's Cheesecake celebrated National Cheesecake Day on July 27 with the debut of the Cheesecake mobile. The black and white 1928 Ford delivery truck drove around Chicago all day passing out free slices of cheesecake at scheduled and surprise stops, which were announced on Eli’s Twitter and Facebook pages. The Eli’s mascot—appropriately a giant cheesecake slice—passed out more than 1,000 pieces throughout the day.
The celebration also featured an appearance by Miss Illinois, Megan Ervin, who decorated cheesecake and announced that Eli's would donate a portion of all in-store and online sales made on National Cheesecake Day to The Children's Miracle Network. The bakery café chain also offered free shipping on a different featured cheesecake flavor of the hour between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
