More than 50 Bread Bakers Guild of America member bakeries hosted open houses on June 25. The bakeries spanned 25 states, two Canadian provinces and Ireland. Events ranged from bakery tours, demonstrations, product tastings and question-answer sessions. “Our open house was a great success. We were baking baguettes the entire time,” said Jory Downer, owner of Bennison’s Bakery, Evanston, Ill. “Folks wanted to know if we would do it again next year.”
