A study by Novarra, the Internet Mobility Co., Itasca, Ill., confirmed an expected Black Friday rush online via mobile devices. The company reported that mobile phone web traffic to retailer and shopping information websites increased twelve-fold, by 1,209 percent, compared to the same day in 2008.
“This is further confirmation that consumers increasingly rely on the Internet via mobile phones for their daily habits and routines,” says Scott Cotter, Novarra'a senior director of marketing. “For many shoppers, browsing deals and comparing prices while on the run—even within the retailer's location—has become second nature.”
