Bredenbeck’s decorator created a cake with Tastykake snack cakes for a Philadelphia Mother’s Day promotion.

Two renowned Philadelphia-area bakeries, Bredenbeck's Bakery and Tastykake, joined forces last month in a Mother's Day promotion. Bredenbeck's cake decorator, Diana Anello, used Tastykake snack cakes to decorate a celebration cake for the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day on display at Macy's in Center City, Philadelphia. The event honored Ann Jarvis, who, along with John Wanamaker, established May 10th as a day dedicated to all mothers.

The celebration cake measured more than 3 ft. tall and 18 ins. in diameter, and along with Tastykake products, was decorated with icing roses, rolled fondant shooting stars and an exact replica of the Mother's Day plaque that stands at Market and Filbert Streets in front of City Hall.

Anello took six hours and used hundreds of Tastykake products, along with Bredenbeck's butter pound cake, icing and rolled fondant, to create the cake.

Bredenbeck's Bakery & Ice Cream Parlor is a full-line retail bakery that has been in the Philadelphia area since 1889. Tastykake is a Philadelphia-based wholesale bakery that produces snack cakes, cupcakes, filled cakes and other packaged baked products.
