The American Dietetic Association (ADA), Chicago, recently released its public opinion survey, Nutrition and You: Trends 2008. Among a range of questions in the ADA survey, respondants were asked about their consumption (increased, decreased or stayed the same) over the past five years of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, fish, chicken, dairy, pork and beef.

The largest percentage of people (56 percent) said they have increased their consumption of whole grain foods. The survey found people 65 and older were the least likely to have increased their consumption of any of these foods, while adults between 13 and 34 were the most likely to have increased consumption, especially of whole grains.
