Animals Gone Wild and My Destination Wedding will be the themes for this year’s Ultimate Cake Decorating Competition sponsored by the Upper Midwest Bakery Association (UMBA). The contest will be held at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn., on Sunday, Nov. 14. It is open to decorators from UMBA or Retail Bakers of America member bakeries in the upper Midwest. Competitors will decorate a cake and 24 matching cupcakes in 90 minutes, as well as a sheet cake or sculpted cake. The wedding cake competition will feature two-person teams producing a five-tier or larger wedding cake that represents the My Destination Wedding theme.

Decorators are competing for the $1,000 top prize in each category plus cash and gifts for second and third places, and they can compete in one or both categories.

Entry forms are available at uppermidwestbakery.net and must be received by Oct. 8, 2010. Competitors will be chosen based on their portfolios.
