Pan O Gold Baking Co. baked the world's longest bun, which was 52 ft. long and required 40 lbs. of dough.
To celebrate Prescott grocery store's 100-year anniversary, Patrick Ptacek of Ptacek's IGA, a Wisconsin family-owned grocery store, organized the assembly of a 52-ft. 2-in. bratwurst and bun, setting the new world record for the longest bratwurst and bun, according to the World Record Academy.
For an equally giant bun to hold the world record brat, store manager and son Pat Ptacek summoned the help of Jimmy Hanson from Pan O Gold Baking Co., bakers of Village Hearth buns.
The bun required 40 lbs. of dough, a custom baking pan and transport in a 53-ft. semi trailer from the company's Sun Prairie, Wis., bakery. It took a team of more than a dozen people to hoist the bratwurst into the bun.
