The facility, with expanded interstate highway access, houses more than 78,000 sq. ft. of warehouse and office space. The new Menomonee Falls operation also has 15,000 sq. ft. of freezer storage capacity, reflecting the growing use of “thaw and sell” frozen products in the baking industry.
A new, custom-engineered test bakery also is an integral part of the center, featuring a complete commercial kitchen operation with a fryer, proofer and a commercial bakery grade oven. BakeMark will use the new test kitchen for product development, new product demonstrations and training internally and with customers.
Quicker response
“Our objective was to improve our ability to respond quickly to our customers by bringing both operations under one roof and still have plenty of room to grow,” said William (Bill) Day, C.E.O. of BakeMark USA in a company release. “In addition to giving us much more commercial freezer capacity to service our Midwest customers’ needs, this new operation gives us more space to offer a broader product offering.”
The Milwaukee operations moved into the new building in April of this year, leaving behind a facility originally built in 1938 and restricted from any future growth. The Carol Stream offices and warehouse operations completed their move to the new site in September.
“The new test kitchen is a great example of state-of-the-art bakery preparation. We designed it to ensure that we have the ability to duplicate our customer’s recipes and preparation methods to make sure anything we develop meets our customers’ and their customers’ needs,” Day added.
BakeMark USA is a distributor and manufacturer of bakery food ingredients and products. It has 18 branches across the United States and is part of Netherlands-based CSM.
