Creating a more contemporary, useful and easy-to-use website was among the primary goals of the extensive graphic redesign and marketing program that was implemented in 2009 to raise visibility of the bakery in the marketplace.
“I think like lots of companies, we got caught up in the work, and let our website languish a bit, favoring direct contact or word of mouth to generate business,” says Mandy Morris, vice president & COO, the third generation to run the business. “But now, perhaps more than ever before, it’s critical to keep your online presence current.”
The sales team at Lone Star Bakery, Inc. continues to make personal, one-on-one contact with customers, but as with most other businesses, increased travel costs have made it more important for the company’s website to support current business as well as serve as a first contact for new business. Online visitors will find an easy-to-navigate site, and the clean, contemporary look of the website was deliberate. “With so much information in one place, the design had to be easy on the eyes as well as easy to use,” says Morris.
The colorful home page offers entry for every type of customer, including foodservice, restaurant, delis and in-store bakeries, and co-packers. It also includes product information, bakery news, and even background about some long-time employees of the bakery. Throughout the site, photos support the product offering, and also offer visual serving suggestions.
