Thomasville, Ga-based Nature's Own is expanding its bread line with six new premium specialty loaves formulated to help consumers make intelligent choices with regard to whole grains. The all-natural varieties include heart-healthy whole grains that do not sacrifice taste, the company said. Varieties include 100% Whole Wheat, 100% Whole Wheat made with organic flour, All Natural Honey Wheat made with organic flour, Hearty Oatmeal, 9-Grain and 12-Grain.
"Consumers are demanding nutritionally right, heart-healthy foods without having to compromise taste, convenience or budget," said a company spokesperson. "Nature's Own new premium specialty breads offer whole grains containing nutrients that make eating bread healthful and tasty."
A two-slice serving of the bread meets U.S. Department of Agriculture's minimum whole grain requirement of 48 grams per day. More than half of all Americans consume less than one serving of whole grain foods per day, according to the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota.
