Desserts merchandised to resemble cocktails were a big hit at the Show & Sell Center at Dairy-Deli-Bake.
When in New Orleans, do as they do…walk around with a drink in hand. Or in this case, offer customers the opportunity to walk around with a caketail in hand. At the Show and Sell Center, tequila sunrises and margarits were on display, except they weren’t the cocktails you might expect.
The tequila sunrise featured a red velvet cake base and topped with mango and lemon filling served in a glass to create the signature tri-color look of the cocktail. The margarita was lemon jello topped with a thin layer of cake. The caketail was finished with whipped topping and the margarita glass was dipped in sanding sugar.
To complete the “boozy baking,” you can add liquor to your products by soaking fruit in alcohol, flavoring whipped cream with alcohol, macerate fruit in sugar and liquor and poach fruit in wine. Some ideas beyond the two showcased in the Show & Sell Center include Long Island iced tea cake, white Russian paczki, Borracho boca negra, champagne creme brulee.
