Peter Yuen and Dara Reimers will be among 24 candidates from 17 countries who will be competing at the Maîtres de la Boulangerie (Bakery Masters) 2010 to be held March 6-10 at Europain in Paris. The Bakery Masters is a new competition whose participants competed in either the Louis Lesaffre Cup or the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie. The competition encompasses three categories–bread, Viennese pastry and artistic piece– and will be held every four years during Europain, alternating with the Coupe du Monde.
Yuen, owner of Patisserie P, Chicago, and Reimers, owner of The Bread Shack, Auburn, Maine, are both former Bread Bakers Guild Team USA members, and competed in the Coupe du Monde in 2008. At the Bakery Masters, Yuen will compete in the Viennese pastry category and will be judged on brioche, croissants, pains aux chocolat as well as three additional pastries of his choice. Reimers will compete in the artistic piece category, which has two components. She will have to prepare a piece before the show that showcases the 12 months of the year and during the competition, create a showpiece on the theme–a festival in your country.
A jury of seven will chose the master of each category.
