British cake decoration supplier Culpitt Ltd. has received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for its success in exporting. The Queen’s Award is an awards program for British businesses and other organizations that excel at international trade, innovation or sustainable development.
Culpitt manufactures cake boards, cake cards, sugar fondant sheets for photocakes, printed edible cake decorations and moulded sugar cake decorations. The company’s innovation program includes several hundred new product introductions each year. The company also holds a number of patents on its manufacturing processes.
“Winning this award is a massive achievement for the whole team,” managing director Tom Wylie said in a press release. “We have concentrated on a strategy based around innovation and excellent customer service. We are now investing heavily in logistics and IT to further improve upon our current performance.”
Culpitt was founded in 1921 by the Culpitt family and moved to its current base in Ashington, in the northeast of England, in 1947. The company was acquired by DecoPac Inc. in 1998.
