Dunkin’ Donuts has launched an app that allows customers to pay with their mobile devices. With the app, customers can purchase and store virtual Dunkin’ Donuts cards in their iPhones, iPads or Androids and add money to them. But rather than pay with cash or a credit card, users open the app and pull up a barcode for the cashier to scan.
The app also includes virtual gift cards that users can send via text, email or Facebook; as well as a store locator; menu; and nutrition information. Most of Dunkin’s 7,000 U.S. locations will accept the app.
The Dunkin' rollout comes on the heels of Starbucks’ highly publicized mobile pay app launch. The chain also has partnered with mobile payment company Square with a plan to expand mobile payments and ease credit and debit card payment processing fees. Read more here.
