Kaufman's Bakery & Delicatessen, Skokie, Ill., wants tough economic times to lead to a bread line, one that leads out of the bakery's door. Co-owner Bette Dworkin hopes her announcement of a 15 percent price reduction on the bakery's breads, rolls and bagels creates such a line.
“Times are tough, but the cost of wheat and flour has decreased, so we want to pass this savings on to our customers,” Dworkin said. The discount applies to all the bakery's bread products, which are made on premise by an 8th generation master baker. Established in 1955, Kaufman's is a family-owned business that specializes in Eastern European breads and pastries.
