To ring in its centennial last month, Roeser’s Bakery, Chicago, threw a 1911-style circus party for 300 guests under a festive tent outside the bakery last month.
The event included circus performers like fire-breathers, unicyclists and jugglers. Guests sampled a special anniversary cake, which was decorated by John Roeser III. The bakery also presented donations to five neighborhood schools.
“The Roeser family has been a part of a Chicago tradition since my grandfather opened the bakery in Humboldt Park 100 years ago,” said Roeser, third-generation owner of the bakery, in a press release. “And even as we enter our second century in the industry, I still have dreams for the bakery. Anything is possible.”
In honor of its birthday, Roeser’s also is offering a “100 Days of 100 Cents” promotion–a daily deal where rotating products are available for $1.
Discounted items include red velvet cupcakes, maple bacon long johns, assorted cake bites and butter loaf coffeecake. The $1 daily special will continue through Dec. 9–Roeser’s posted a calendar on its Facebook page to indicate each weekly special.
