Roundy’s to expand its Mariano’s concept

In 2010, Roundy’s Supermarkets Inc., Milwaukee, opened its new Mariano’s concept in Arlington Heights, Ill., a suburb of Chicago. This year it will expand the concept with the addition of three locations.

Named for Roundy’s chairman, Bob Mariano, Mariano’s is an upscale supermarket stocked with specialty items, such as fresh pizza, a fresh bakery, a coffee bar, gelato and sushi. The company’s plans include locations in suburban Vernon Hills, as well as five Chicago neighborhoods.
