General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice

Baking is an art. It is also a business. Your business is defined by how you combine the details of each. The art of baking reflects your values, while the business hinges on your ability to read your market and control your costs.

General Mills has focused on these details for the last 125 years, helping bakeries drive profitable growth through the art of baking.

It starts with the belief that no detail is too small. Tim Huff, a 20-year General Mills employee and manager of Bakery Technology Services, knows flour is much more than just flour. Tim has shared his knowledge of flour in a variety of ways, from acting as the lead instructor at the Pizza Crust Boot Camp to being a guest speaker at the Artisan Baking Center in New York. Tim wants to make sure that bakers not only understand the details, but also how certain flour can help their products work better.

That detail is then applied to specific bakery needs. Chip Levers, a General Mills regional sales manager, knows that all brownies aren't created equal. When one of his customers tried to sell brownies to a local convenience chain, they found their usual production methods too messy. Chip suggested baking the brownies in the bakery's muffin pans, creating a single serve brownie that could be mass produced. By reformulating the brownie mix and creating four flavor varieties, Chip grew their brownie business 300% over the prior year.

That attention to detail is cultivated in each member of the General Mills team. Ongoing training at the General Mills Bakeries and Foodservice Culinary Center, like the "Donut Deep Dive" lets General Mills sales force hone their technical expertise. Working on everything from formulation to trouble-shooting, they bring their expertise directly to bakers through local seminars and sales visits.

General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice helps you focus on the right things, dating back to 1880 when our Gold Medal flour won the first gold medal (hence the brand name) at the Miller's International Exhibition. We support every product with teams of research and development, quality, and culinary experts to ensure product success. We take it one step further to help you identify and execute on new opportunities.

Today, General Mills Bakeries & Foodservices can help your bakery go even further.

We're bakers, business builders and brand marketers that can bring the power of the General Mills directly to your bakery.
